I have a 351w that came out of an 81 model LTD, it has the a/c compressor, smog pump and tensioner pulley on the right side of the engine operated by a sepetine belt and and the alt,p/s pump and w/p on the left operated by another belt. Does this sound like the same set up that the 81 truck 351w had. If so could someone help me out by posting a pic of how the a/c,smog and tensioner brackets are mounted. I purchased the donor engine and the brackets were off and now I am trying to mount it all back on to my new engine. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have an 86 351w v belt. My AC pump is on the drivers side at the top of the motor. This is where i have seen all of them. Even in the newer serp motors.
The serpentine on the trucks were the same as what you have. The ones I look at in the JY have two serpentine belts. Later in the 80's they went to a one piece serpentine.
I think they ran the two piece serpentine because the water pumps did not have reverse rotation.
Looking at the engine, the alt is on the left and the a/c is on the right.
I went to the 1989 one piece serpentine for my future engine. I am going to go to the junkyard today for some exercise. I will see if I can get you some pictures.
thanks first. the one i need has the a/c on the left and the alt on the right if you are standing in front of the engine looking at it. The alt is just above the p/s pump. I know the engine came from a 1981 crown vic. Thanks
