Intake Install

My intake should be arriving from Riffraff Diesel today and I must say that I;m excited!

I am curious about the install. Anything I should know about performing the install? I remember reading that there is something funky about removing the stock intake. Anyhow, please sound off if you have any tips..

Well, my airbox was already removed when I got the truck, so I can't really help much...

I'd say just take a BFH and beat the thing out of there... but that's just me.

To remove the stock intake you unscrew the lid from the bottom, then unhook the sensor from the lower airbox half, then PULL HARD and it will pop out.

It's incredibly easy. I did it in like 15 minutes. If you use the dust cover just pull it on slow or the wire on the filter will snag it.

What I did when I installed my cover was I put a plastic walmart bag over the filter (closed end of the bag over the open end of the filter) then pull the cover over the whole thing. When it's on then pull the plastic bag out. And you're done.

I did that the first time... waste of time IMO. Just work it on slowly and you won't snag it. Turn the cover inside out and get the end started first then just work it on.

I haven't done anything mechanical in some time.. I look forward to the benefits of the intake no matter what..

I'm guessing I'll get some good turbo whistle

It won't change much until you open up the exhaust.

Yes, if the truck is stock you will hear the turbo big time.

Bummerooski - Makes sense though - Got to kill the cat I reckon - Already have a downpipe from who knows who - Muffler is stock - Bet things will be feeling much better after the basic mods are done -

I never heard too much from my turbo until after the 6637. Now I can hear it at will.
