yesterday the plastic shim/sleeve thing finally gave out and fell apart on the striker bolt for my passenger door...door sounded like it was going to self destruct afterwards every time i hit the least little bump in road....
i didnt even realize that the bolts had sleeves on them, my drivers door didnt have one....and worked fine....but it sounded different from the passenger door, i just chalked it up to it being used a lot more then passenger door over the years..
anyway....i stopped at oriellys and got new sleeves from in the help section...pulled passenger bolt, put sleeve on, reinstalled in same location it came off...door now stays silent over bumps....but you have to press the door handle button twice now to get the door to open all the way...
drivers door will not close all the way, and i have the bolt adjusted as far in as it will go....
is there additional adjustment in the door itself to fine tune it ????? i cant figure this out and it seems like a simple process.....
the sleeve is thicker than the old one, you have to keep fooling with it until it works right. if you can't get it right, you may have to take some sandpaper to it, and give it a "little tuneup"

Takes a while to get right. The new sleeves will cause you to have to push the button harder also when opening the door but I don't care as long as the doors don't rattle.
well, doors are silent as they can be now.....
so just leave it and let it work itself out?...i have them both adjusted about as good as i can get them by adjusting the striker bolt
