click click- nothing

this morning i jumped in my truck to head off. Started it, it died(it usually does, low idle problem). I went to restart it fast and when i did i heard click click and then i had nothing. no headlight, no power, no nothing. i dont know what to do. im thinking a loose cable but i dont know. help would be great, thanks.

Clean the battery terminals and check the terminals on the fender mounted relay.

fords of our age are notorious for having ground issues... I have a ground running to the engine block and the fender wall on all my trucks... Probably not the cause in this case but you never know. clean your posts and check your lines to the alternator. How old is the battery? when was the last time you went to the auto parts store and had your battery and alternator tested?

Sounds like a bad cable connection leading from battery to ground and battery to alt. Whenever mine did that, it was always the negative terminal. Finally I got new cables and swapped my 2g alt for a 3g alt, never has happened again.
