all i could thing of right now is they might be like gappers or mabey a seal of some sort when you crank down injectors, dont know just trying to throw ideas out there .
feel kind bad about reccomending those injectors to ya and getting them and ya having trouble whith them sorry about all that
Naa, I'm not mad...Nothing to get made about. I've grown up around cars and trucks and I learned early that sometimes parts look alittle different but they still work. I was more curious than any thing. About the pics...every one is still sleeping so i'll see if I can sneak back in and get my camera.
I just got my injectors tonite and I checked them out. The are Stanadyne remanufact. On the injector end they have a funny looking end...above the copper washer it looks like an adjustable thumb wheel or something. What is that for? Also are these OK? I know how fussy these trucks are with glowplugs so just curious about the injectors.
Don't worry, that's just the way they are. It's there to get a 12point socket on the lower sleeve. That's how they are assembled.
I would advise a pop test, especially with a rebuilt unit.
"pop test" I'm not sure how to do that. But the ebay seller assured the buyer (me) that +/-4 if I understand what I was reading and what your saying. I haven't had a lot experince with diesel injectors...well any injectors for that matter.
If you scroll back to the first page, ah1988 had a ebay link on is reply to a guy that rebuilds them. I bought a set from him. They look good and I like the way he does business, very american.
The biggest prob peeps have when changing inj's is not getting the copper washer to seat. The injector bore in the head MUST BE CLEAN. There is a Ford/Rotunda tool to do this. Others have used a shotgun cleaning brush, 1" copper tube cleaning tool, etc.
The main thing is to get the seating surface CLEAN, and torque them properly.
