Thanks for all your help I just measured the stroke of the engine out of the parts truck and it was a little over 3.3/4 that is a 390 right. So I have all the pieces I need the only thing that worries is it seems to leak some oil not a defined spot should I do valve cover, oil pan timing cover before the swap any other things that I should do while it is out? thanks again.

Wrong.
The stroke is 4 3/4 inches? What the heck are you workin' on, a Stutz Bearcat 389 cid T-Head I-4?

Stroke: 352/360 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78" / 410/428 = 3.98"

I screwed it up again you are right just over 3 3/4 Trying to get it right I measured starting at one then forgot to subtract it. maybe 4 hours of sleep isn't good on a regular bases. Hopefully there are a few chuckles mixed in with the frustration Thanks agian for answering my inaccurate posts.
