04 Exp 4 low
Hello. I've been lurking here for a while but now I need some help. My wifes 04 Expedition somehow put itself in 4 low without the switch being turned or the transmission in neutral. How could this happen? I was able to get it back into 2 wheel drive by putting it in neutral and cycling the switch. Could this be a gem module problem?

No not a GEM issue, in fact I could be off a year but I don't think the GEM was still used in 04. There is a separate 4x4 module inside the dash behind the instrument cluster. The cluster has to come out to access it.
The other possibility is the shift motor is acting up down on the transfer case.
