Random Chapter Leader thoughts...

OK, it was great to see everyone that could make it yesterday. (Steve says he got lost and ended up in Wharton, New Jersey...go figure...)

Couple things that have been brought up to me, and I'd like your input...some from other chapter leaders, some from site admin/mods...some from the woman standing behind me holding the "Iron Skillet of Reality..."

Do we want to plan a chapter Christmas party / gtg? Maybe a "white elephant" gift exchange?

There's some talk in the Chapter Leader forum about "Chapter member maps" that I've seen a few of, and they look pretty cool...essentially, it's an interactive map of a given state (Missouri for us...) that would show little dots representing where we live in the state. Looks kinda cool, thought I'd see what you all think.

Chapter funds. Do we want to establish some sort of Chapter petty cash? "Dues" are absolutely out of the question, but we can do things like a 50/50 raffle to raise some Chapter dollars for purchases that we all vote on, such as the banner that Ches brought to our G2G...

What do y'all think?

Here Terry, here is the Jersey Chapter Member Map...

Ford-Trucks.com NJ Chapter - Google Maps

Now with Google Maps you have to setup an account to create or edit the map.

You can make it Private so only the people who have the link can view it, you can make it collaborative so they can edit there own info or make a member Map Coordinator who enters member info and maintains it.

OK, a "white elephant" gift exchange generally involves x number of people showing up and each bringing a present valued under some set amount...say $20...with NO intended recipient...that way, everyone gets a gift that everyone would find useful... or funny...or whatever...we did this once and it was a GREAT success...

As for mother nature, none of us can control what she has in mind on any given day in the future...I'd suggest that we plan that part like any other meet...vote on a date, time, and location, and hope that mother nature cooperates...if she doesn't, then we all can certainly understand if travelling on THAT day isn't feasible.

OK, OK....I'll get to work on a map...mebbe one afternoon this week!

A map sounds great, as does raising some funds, and more G2G's.

OK, would someone go look at this and see if you can find me?

I know that the zoom is a little out, but you can't zoom in closer and keep ALL of Missouri in the map.

Anyone with a link SHOULD be able to add themselves to the map.

White elephant as a x mas gift, lol. Yea Terry I am on that one for you, any idea is cool by us, as far a a xmas G2G sure depending on weather and my work schedule.

The map thing is ok especially if other FTE members can see it, in case they are in our state and need a hand. Or we are in there's and need a hand, IE vehicle trouble's.

Might be something to mention to other site monitors/chapter leader's??? Kind of a FTE SOS thing?
