Primary resistance wire

Is there still a source for the "pink" primary resistance wire that was used on my '60 F100? (the one running between the ing. switch and the terminal block on the firewall which ultimately connects to the coil) Or, do I now have to convert to a ballast resitor? I have searched and found a lot of talk about this topic and how it all works but nothing to indicate whether or not the original type of "resistance wire", was available or not.

Just FYI, they also make coils with the resistance already incorporated.

I still have the old "mustard", top coil and would like to keep things looking as original as possible under there. I realize that you sometimes have to be practical and keep up with the times but I believe that most folks have these trucks for other reasons than being practical!

Well, thanks to the info provided here, I have a new resistance wire coming. However, I should have asked this before, my last one really smoked itself. I melted thru the insulation in places. Is that common? Do they fail in that matter or do I have an additional issue that caused it? I certainly don't want to put the new one on when it arrives, only to achieve the same result? Seems to me that it may have gone to ground somewhere but I have checked and everything appears fine.

It shouldn't get much more than "warm", unless you just turn the ignition key to Run while the points are closed (engine not running) and leave it On for an hour or two. You'll burn your points and possibly the wire, too.
