Escape Cruise Control Issues
My 2005 Ford Escape 4x4 will allow me to set the cruise control, but it only stays on for 2-3 minutes then disengages. After that it may or may not let me reset it. If I can reset it it usually disengages within a couple of seconds.
Things I've done:
First off I've read just about every post related to this problem. I checked the cable connection and it's fine. I ran the self test and it came back with 4 flashes. I replaced the VSS sensor. It didn't fix the problem, I also still get the 4 blinks every once in a while when I do the test. I decided to replace the brake switch on the pedal, still no luck. The last thing I can think to do other than going to the dealership for repairs is begging and pleading for any help you guys can give me. If you could see me I'm on my knees begging. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I had the same issue and googled for days for the answer. I did the self test and got three blinks, so replaced the brake switch with no luck.
The current state is that I get no response from the cruise at all. I can't even get a response from the self test.
Where is the cable connection you mention? I had seen that mentioned in other threads, but I'm a computer guy, not a car guy, so have no idea where to look.
For what it's worth, I have an '06 XLS 4cyl 2WD.
Anyone have any answers?
Thanks in advance!
Good luck, I hope you have better luck than me in getting your cruise working.
I don't have the engine cover and know very little about these things (except the standard engine checks).
I'll look around, see what I can find out.
Did you try shorting the circuit with a paper clip? I plan to try that this evening.
