Ok I took a pic of some wiring that might be part of the break lights but I cant figure out how to post the pics...yet. so the wiring in question comes out of the firewall into the motor area on the driverside. the plugs are red and lead down to the frame. are those wires for the breaks? its just two red wires. This truck is a basket case so if these wires are supposed to go to the back of the truck someone hacked these wires off of it at some point. Im getting power to the stop light switch at the break pedal.
The proportioning valve should have one wire be a ground going into it. The other wire is going out of it and going back up in to the dash and giving the light a ground. Since this light already has power it then lights up. Yes the brake wires are wrapped with the rest of the light wiring for the rear. I believe there are 5 wires in all going back the frame.
The brake lights also run though the turn signal switch so all the problems might be in the turn signal switch. I never left the house today but my bronco has tunes now. I am probably going to run around tomorrow so maybe I can swing by

glad you got tunes in that bad boy! Looks like ill be heading to pick and pull again soon... you want to make another parts run for bumpers? Im down if you are. btw looks like I can connect the speedo to the transfer case like you thought but i dont know where exactly. one of these guys told me that it goes in around the output shaft.
When I got my truck the taillights didn't work and one brake light didn't work they yellow wire with a black stripe was cut in half up by the firewall I reconnected em and got my taillights and brake lights back.
