Ford 9 Inch Manual
Some 1980/83 F100's have a 5 lug 5.50" bolt circle pattern, some have a 5 lug 4.50" bolt circle pattern. 4.50" Passenger Car wheels will not fit these F100's, because they will not clear the trucks calipers. Is that just in the 1980 + rears Bill? Good to know!
I knew about the ridge on the 9 3/8" being different on the pumpkin (carrier) from the 9 inch, but trying to describe same without posting pics is difficult and can be confusing. Sometimes trying to describe can be confusing WITH pictures! LOL!
Picturing the puppy is the way to go...thanks for doing this!
I dunno how to post pics (and parts catalog illustrations) and I do NOT wanna know! I'm besieged enough as it is.
Not much improvement usually, just making it something new and different to "decode."
And, if you have one a these puppies, the brakes are different from the 5.50" pattern, so is the suspension and shocks. Ford advertised these F100's as a LIGHT truck, most also have Swiss Cheese frames.
"Sometimes describing with pics can be confusing!" How true...it's confusing to some, but not to the ppl that posted the pics. One problem here is, ppl don't know the right side from the left side of their vehicles.
With LHD, the left side is the drivers side...how many times have I posted this? 1000's! Some clueless ppl then ask...is that looking at the truck from the front? (sigh).
Me neither!

It might help if the same people owned a boat (or mebbe not-boat owners can be clueless too), are/were in the USN/USCG or had knowledge of maritime law.
Boat: Hole in the water you pour money in. The two happiest days of a boat owner: The day he/she buys it, the day he/she sells it.

Sorry for the late response, but I've been away from the puter for a while.
The diffs I came across are definitley 9 inchers! They were rusty and dusty and abandonded but still had the id tag on them.
Number 1 diff code
1st line WDM-BF2 6FA
2nd line 3:00 9 334A
I believe that indicates it's from a Ford F100 75-79 3.00:1 9" 28 spline
Number 2 diff code
1st line WDM-DC ???
2nd line 2:47 9 ????
I believe that indicates it's from a Ford F100 81-82 2.47:1 9" 31 spline
Both are non-locking, both are 61.25" flange to flange!
I have never setup one before , but I have a neighbour who has, and he is a tool and die maker, plus he can supply the bearings as well!!
If it doesn't work out, I'm only out $50, but richer by the experience!!
