BAD start to the week

A couple a days ago I came out and found this!! I checked the surveillance video and saw 3 dogs chasing a cat or something. They worked on my truck for about an hour. Really seemed like they were having fun tearing everything out. truck would not start as they tore the power to the fuel pump. fixed that part already, but there is essentially no wire from there on. No taillights, trailer plugs, vss, etc...

owner of the dogs refuses to take responsibility. I have gotten some quotes from the local dealers. the cheapest so far was $2200. guess a lot of beer and solder is needed for my weekend. have a look:

holy crap. It looks like you live in the city. If so there should be a city ordinance that states dogs should only be let out on a leash and not have free run of the neighborhood. It looks like you have your work cut out for you. I would say somthing else to the owner of the dog especially if you have it on video.

That's not good. Sorry to hear. The owners should be responsible. If they are not willing to pay, fix it and go after them.

Hopefully you can just match up wire colors and splice things back together. If you need pics or wiring diagrams I'm sure we can help you out.

Sounds like destruction of private property and is grounds for a law suite unless the owner takes responsibility. I'm not a lawyer, I don't know your state laws but you can fight this and get someone to pay for it. You could put a claim in with her home owner's insurance

That sucks. I had a neighbors dog getting into my garbage almost every night, seen the dog. I got tired of picking up the mess every morning. I told the neighbor that his dog is getting into my cans, and he said that is not his dog. I caught the dog in my trash one night and handled the situation. Neighbor came one day asking if I seen his dog. I said no, I haven't seen your dog, I only seen the dog that was in my garbage every night and I took care of it.

That is the same thing the guy told me when I confronted him. He said "they stay here and I feed them, but they are not mine."

I do not live in a city, so I called the county sheriff and filed a report. The owner of the dogs lives in a run down apartment and doesn't look like he has .02 to his name.

The sheriff told me he would issue him a $500 citation for each dog. If he doesn't pay, he will go to jail. That is something, I guess.

At any rate, I needed to get the repair quotes and copy of the video to go a long with the report. All that is done, now I need to get my truck back up and running since I have been borrowing the wife's car.

That 90* trailer plug still freaks me out! That's just not right....

Well if you have full coverage you could see what your insurance company will do about it.

Holy cats batman! Sorry, couldn't help myself. That really stinks. Could you get a wiring harness from Ed or from a donor truck?

At least you had the video to figure out how it happened. Man that sucks, but I'd look for a junker you could pull wires from, or break out the soldering iron....

Good idea as that is really vandalism even if done by animals. Let the insurance company go after the dog owner. That's what you are paying them for.

I would try to get wiring from a salvage yard or as a last resort new. All those connections are a disconnect waiting to happen.

Yeah, that seems like the plan. I have all the wire I will need and enough shrink tube. Just need the beer and the time.

Seems like I will just have to install the auxiliary backup lights and sensors while I am at it.

Although not a fan of court.....video and an owner who won't accept responsibility, equals Small Claims Court IMHO. Your home owners insurance shouldn't have to go up because of a careless neighbor. Hope you get this resolved.
