To the OP. What year truck do you have, you didnt say and your sig does not list a 87-96
As for the radio not working, if it is a FACTORY CD player they had external amps(right above the gas pedal) if the amp goes, you will hear NOTHING. I have replaced 4 amps in 3 different trucks because they burned them selves up.
And you cannot put a tape player in place of a CD because the plugs are different. or vise versa. Only the AM/FM can be swaped w a Tape player
Yes ,if your truck has premium sound with the metal Amp wire and only one normal looking radio plug, all you have to do is follow the wires to the External amp mounted beneath the radio ( its a pain to get at) unplug everything from the amp , you will find that Ford only used an extra section harness for this Option, unplug the extra harness and pull the 2 original radio plugs up through the radio socket plug them into the new radio and you are back in business... P.S. dont forget to plug the antenna back in while your at it..
I have done this in reverse many times as I have 10 ford trucks and every one of them now has a factory CD player which also requires this harness and amp.... if you decide to leave the harness in the truck you can use a stock cd player or stock cassette player from many different mid 90s ford. lincold, and Mercury models......

Okay maybe i got this wrong bud, i pulled the factory amp out, and the two plugs that where plugged into it are not the same that are in the radio, they are close, but will not plug into it.
There was another plug that wasnt plugged in, or seemed to not be, that i could not reach. It was slightly above the factory amp.
Are you trying to say that the plugs in the amp should fit the radio?
