I was reading my (newly acquired) Owner's Manual for my '74 F-100 and was surprised to notice that Ford offered factory canopies on some of their trucks as an option (Standard and Deluxe).
I've got a Ford Factory topper/canopy/cap what ever they are called in your part of the country, they are way better fit and style that the aftermarkets, mine is the deluxe model with the sliding windows, roof vent and interior light that my truck was wired for from the factory.
I have one as well Came from the factory on my 79 s/c c/s.
The only problem I have had over the years is the seal on the top of the rear door leaks, possibly because the seal gets crushed. The rear door is also very heavy, not suitable for the women to use for shopping. Nothing fits better than original FORD parts!!!!!
I have on that is the deluxe model, they fit the trucks lines great. I am picking up another next weekend for parts. Mine needs a new back door it is cracked and worped. the whole cap is heavy but would not trade it for for a new one. If you can find one they are worth it.
I also have a factory topper with sliding windows, roof vent and prewired light.Like mentioned earlier, they are heavy and my rear door also developed a crack on one side, couple of metal braces fixed that right up and you can't see it unless door is open.Is yours fiberglass also? John
