Intermittent hard steering

Have been having some hard steering come and go lately. I flushed the fluid as per the write up and that got rid of my hydroboost hiss but the steering seems the same. At a stop on pavement in nuetral or park i can't turn the tires but inches if i'm lucky all the time. Most times in gravel or hard dirt in park or neutral turns like a dream from lock to lock, other times they won't budge. No real noise ever, maybe just a slight noticable groan when its stuck but no loud whine or anything.

Is this the pump on its way out? Could it be the belt or tensioner? How would i check? Wife is driving it now and don't want her creaming another car in the parking lot.

I guess it could be the belt slippinh. Keep in mind that these truck are extremely heavy on the front end. If you are creeping alona at a couple MPH does it steer ok?

well as soon as i can start getting it to move it will start to steer ok but it has to be moving. my dad and a few other friends that have the same truck all can steer on the pavement while not moving from lock to lock. If you rev it up while sitting there you can get some help with that if its not deciding to work that day.

I assume with that many miles that your ball joints have already been replaced.

My truck acts the same as yours on pavement (with my foot on the brake). It's not unusual. I don't think there is anything wrong.

Well if i have my foot on the brake i can't turn at all. I'm just talking in park or neutral or in drive with a trailer on with my foot off the brake.
