I hate things that rattle...

I have noticed over the past month or so a constant rattle going over rough roads. It looks like I narrowed it down to the center console lock or the release lever on the lid.

Anyone else hear or expierence this?

Shane

I haven't noticed that - But I have the 40/20/40 - no console.

But I have one - I think it is one of those heat sheilds under the bed.. I need to get under there and figure it out - bugs the crap out of me...

Newbie here, so take this for what it's worth. The lid spring does not seem strong enough and the bumpers between the lid and the console look to be thinner than the ones on my '05 (larger console too). So...... my lid seems to moves more than I would like and it would make sense to hear rattling going over washboard roads, etc.. Maybe Epic will have a console lid gasket video coming to a theater near you.

new poster but obviously not new reader

My center console latches well. I wonder if the KR leather cover fills the gap that the bumpers aren't taking care of? I too hate things that rattle (except the engine ) but I've yet to find a rattle in any of my trucks that a socket wrench, screwdriver or a little double-sided foam tape can't fix. In the case of a not-properly-latched console lid, I bet you can find some stick-on bumpers of some sort if you look around. I'd think Lowes or even an office supply store should have something that will work.

Also get the same tubing that Epic used in the Door Seal Mod - slit it & fit it over the edge like a gasket....

Yea, I've been lurking for a while. Reading this forum cost me $50K.

Maybe the leather does make for a tighter fit, mine has play in it (I can pretty easily push down on the lid and compress the bumpers further when closed) and suspect if Shane can achieve a tighter fit he may be able to keep the lid, latch, etc from rattling. Just a guess, but...

Lol. That's a pretty expensive sponsorship! Welcome to the board. The split tubing is a great idea.

I posted this suggestion before on another thread about a rattling noise , for those of you that have a sliding rear window look in the guides in which the rear window slides open , in the window guides are plastic guides that hold the window in the track when you slide it open , if you stick your finger in the guide with the window closed and you could move the plastic piece around then its loose , it sounds like a plastic baby rattle going down a bumpy road.

I took a syringe and injected some clear silicone around the sides to hold it in place , thats how i solved my rattle problem .

Hopes this helps .

If that weren't bad enough you cost me another $43.34 for the door seal mod. Thanks!

Sorry Shane, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

No Problem but you got off light on the door seal mod....From What I remember this was my total..

17.00 for 10' of Tubing,...took 6 rolls.

2 cans of silicone lube spray. 5.00 each

Also bought the fish tape, plastic rounded 70.00

Total 182.00

On the rattle, when I open the lid I can hit it and it makes the same rattle sound. it's either the build of the latch or the mechanics on the lock are rattling.

I bought 50ft roll of tubing from Amazon for $38.00 + shipping and was lucky enough to have the rest of the stuff. Good thing the FX4 decal removal was free - wife is getting jealous.

Mine cost $40 for the tubing, 50 cents worth of silicone spray, and an ice cream cone for my little assistant.

Ok OK, I'm just trying to help out HOME DEPOT in the process.

Also, I'll use that Fish Tape for other things. Always wanted the plastic round kind anyway.

I want things now, I hate waiting for UPS. Just like the mud flaps Yesterday and Rain guards. Had them installed by the guy who I bought them from. 28.00 for labor. Not too bad.
