New engines for 2011.

Just wondering if anyone has actually driven any or all of the 2011 trucks with the 5.0, Ecoboost or the 6.2. Don't really care about what the engineers and experts say they should do, but would like to hear from someone who has actually driven all 3. I wish they were having one of their test drives somewhere near me so I could decide for myself.

I have a 2009 with 24,000 miles and have no complaints at all, just curious how the new engines will perform.

There is few videos on youtube of people driving the new engines. All pretty favorable reviews. There is also a few members on here that have driven them when Ford had one of the drive days a couple weeks back. I'm not sure when they are going to be on the lots but I'm definitely going to check them out when the dealerships finally get them.

Drove the new SD with the 6.2, real nice, real smooth.

The power ratings look impressive. I would like to see some test comparisons with all the competitors trucks, comparably equipped. I'm a little concerned by the high peak torque rating of the new engines.............around 4500 RPM's. Not very truck like, although the power curve could tell a different tale. The peak torque in my 5.4 is 2500 RPM. Although the 3.5 Eco-boost is at a low 2500. But I still go by the old adage: 'There is no replacement for displacement.' I DO NOT like the fact that you can only get the 6.2 in the Raptor, Lariat, Platinum and Harley-Davidson. I guess the only people worthy enough to get the 6.2 are those who can afford one of those costly trim levels. That is totally

I agree with you 100%, And I know lots of people on here will argue the Ecoboost is 10 times better than the 6.2L and it may be for that matter...But It doesn't change what I want. I'm planning on buying a 2011 next summer and I was REALLY hoping I could get a ext cab FX4 with the 6.2L But since I can't I'm going to opt for the 5.0L V8. I've no doubt the 5.0L will be plenty powerful for the F-150.

To answer the initial question here though. I wish I could say I have driven them but I haven't yet, But if you follow the links I post up it should take you to a website that has. (Pickuptrucks.com). And they did a pretty decent review on all engines. 3.7L 5.0L 6.2L and Ecoboost. They are all pretty fast I'll post the 0-60 times up here so you and everyone else can see them.

(Acceleration times)

3.7L V6
0-30 = 3.44s
0-60 = 9.07s

5.0L V8
0-30 = 2.72s
0-60 = 7.38s

3.5L Ecoboost V6
0-30 = 2.74s
0-60 = 6.82s

6.2L V8
0-30 = 2.84s
0-60 = 7.15s

Also keep in mind that all these models tested here were 4X4 Quad Cabs The heaviest model of F-150 available. (Hold for the Ecoboost which was 2X4 Quad Cab). These times should drop even more with lighter configurations such as an Extended or Regular cab.

Anyway hope this helps!
