are there idiots out there saying a 360/390 is a small block>?
Same reason why there's folks out there who think that 351M means "modified," and also that there is such an engine as a "351M/400 (read: 351-modified-400)." But, I mostly hear that from the same morons who think the 350 Chevy is the greatest engine ever produced. It's an education thing, or lack of, and I blame shop class instructors.

Yeah, you could go on all day about people misconceptions. Slik 50 is good for your engine, smoking doesn't harm your health, fluoride is good to drink. Why worry about the idiots?

I think it's more or less a matter of classification. Not all people realize Ford engines are classified in families and aren't always a cut and dry sb/bb designation. Then some people consider deck height to classify a sb/bb. And yet others seem to think 400 cubic inches is the magic number fo a bb. And so on and so forth.
So in all fairness, there could be someone out there that is sick of idiots calling the 360/390 a sb or a bb instead of the FE engine family designation.
i understand the family classification but you can plainly look at one and look at a 302/351 and tell its huge compared to the 302 etc.
And yet another classification, it looks big so it's a big block?????? Well then some of those Chevy guys may not be too happy with you with their big cube small blocks. Then you'd sound like the idiot talking with them. Who knows the rhyme or reason to classifications...so next time correctly inform them it's classified as an FE...no different than us 351M/400 guys confusing the heck out of people trying to classify our engines as sb/bb's...nope, sorry they're neither, they're a 335.
well if the block is physically bigger then another, and theres not a whole lot of difference in size in an FE compared to the 460, 360 in the pops 76 f100 and 460 in buds f250, not a BIG difference, so if a person wants to say big block or small block then let em be. 302 351 IS physically smaller. son of a bitch didnt know this was gonna get blow outta proportion.
It's not blown out of proportion. I believe you were the one that came in here calling people idiots, when you, yourself, could be considered wrong as well. What is they say? Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.
