Howdy folks. I've been reading these forums in the dark for a few months now. I thought it was about time to post my baby and introduce myself. My wife picked up this damn nice 81 F100 for me about a month ago. 302 swapped from a 89 mustand/3spd auto. Truck is in pretty good shape; minus some surface rust on the tailgate from the chains swinging. Paint, body work and some new interior are in stoer for it in the near future.
I actually have yet to drive it since I'm just now finishing up my 2nd tour in Iraq. About a week and I get to meet the truck. Enjoy the Pics.

Welcome to the club. Nice looking truck. It looks like you might have a little work ahead of you. And thanks for your service to the country.
Mechanicly everything is working perfect. The engine was torn down and rebuilt about 9 months ago. The PO has all the paperwork and pictures of him doing the rebuild and wiring. Everything I want to do is cosmetic. My starting point is going to be those freaking tail lights....
Welcome to FTE Soldier from a Veteran of another war. I also have a 1981 F100 that
my Dad gave me and I love the truck. Yours is nice will be a good project and will give
you good service. Good Luck!

Someone swapped them out with those little *** ones near the top of the bed. I don't even know if they are street legal.

Those seats are out of an 89 mustang. I am debating putting a bench seat back in it.
Agree on the tail lights, I would replace them too. Nice looking truck otherwise. I know you are excited to get to it. Good luck and post everything you do to it, we love to see modifications in action, especially those of us who can't afford it! Thanks for your service to our country.

I'm going to check out a few pull aparts when I get back. The only place I've seen the stock ones have been LMC and they are kind of pricey.
As far as the lights, they look pretty much like aftermarket trailer lights, I think these ones
below are available from Amazon for about $70 (note they have the backup lights as part
of the assembly):

Do those need any sort of bracket or do they just mount to the body ?
Good lookin truck. I too just bought mine and Im stationed here at Ft Hood, goin to Afghanistan next spring. I like the look of the fox seats in that truck gives a real sport look to it
