my information center when dark the other day. i shut if off to reset it, and the whole dash when dark. i drove it to work, that afternoon started it and everything was fine. this morning it happened again. i took it to the dealer and got the "can't repeat, can't help" line. it is less than a week old, so i demanded that they keep it until they can fix it.
i post this to see if anyone else has had this problem and have a fix. that way i have some ammo when they try to feed me some crap.
Just so we're clear, what were doing when it happened? Just idling, driving, etc? Were you touching the little button to make it scroll screens or reset? I haven't had the issue, but it may be good info for someone else to help you.
Try holding the info reset button as you start the truck, it should take all your lights and gauges through the test mode. It will also give you some neat info like a digital tach.
Could be an intermittant loss of ground issue. Something like that is hard to find when it is not solidly broken. I work on medical electronics and intermittand issues expecially grounds are the worst to find.
I am having the same issue. Kinda wonder if there is some kind of sensor the prevents the lights to stay off during day light operations? all my dash lights come on at start, but turn off soon after the engine starts. the dimmer adjustment does not work during this time however, if i turn it all the way to the right the dome lights comeon. I will check during night time operations to see if it changes. I will post if I discover something. Will also beidle99 suggested.
Ok.. think I may have figured it out. Cover the sensor bulb on your dash with a sweatshirt. I did this and after ten seconds the dash lights came on and dimmer worked. I then removed the sweatshirt and the dash light went off again. So I belive your dashlights work along with our headlight sensor? Hope this help. I would like to know if there is an option to have the dash lights on all the time, so if anyone know I would appreciate it.
it happens in the morning when it is dark. the dealer says that ford said it is a normal condition that the dash lights to work differently when the switch is in auto mode. I told them it can't be normal at night when i can't see anything at all. they are keeping it again to check some more stuff. i read some where that it could be the battery, so i told them to check that too.
thanks everyone for the info. i'll keep ya posted.
I hate the sensor, today was a rainy day and in my other truck I would have turned on my instrument lights but you can't in the new 150 unless you cover the sensor with something, they need a manual override.
I finally got it to dupicate. I was driving into work yesterday, and it was out. I hit a bump and it flickered at me. I tapped it a couple of times and it came back on. It is at the shop now.
