what do I have ?
I just bought a 1986 bronco XL from a friend of mine and the catalyst sticker on the front says that is a 5.0L engine. I pluged in the VIN number in carfax.com and it says its a 5.8L H.O.
Is there any way that I can tell for sure which one I have? some one told me that it is stamped on the block but I cant find it. The motor was rebuilt about 40k miles ago and it has a 4bbl holley on it HELP!!!

Check the width of the intake manifold. The 5.8 is wider across the top than the 5.0 In 86, I think most if not all the 5.0's were fuel injected, while the 5.8's remained carbed. Of course, the PO could have ditched the FI for a carb, my buddy did this on his 86 F-150 5.0 If it's a 5.0, you shoud be able to stretch your thumb and pinky finger across the top, and pretty much reach both sides of the manifold.
