Tranmission interchange help
A friend of mine has a 94 F150 2wd 302 .He is wondering what trannies were offered and if they made a heavier duty tranny for his truck he currently is being told he has a AODE(?)wanting to know if there is a easy swap to a better tranny,He pulls a boat and is having trouble with the tranny holding up It has been rebuilt twice now and instead of putting more money in to it .He would like to go to something stoughter.If there is what parts would he need for this swap.

I'm not sure which Ford tranny is the strongest. I have a 4R70W which I routinely pull heavy loads of up to 10 or so thousand pounds with my 96 F150 4x4. It's showing 160,000 and the tranny is just starting to act funny. It shifts up and down between 35 and 55mph. I found a place in OK. ( Ariel Performance)..........Performance@Arielgears.com He has 230 of the 4R70W's for sale at $850.00 w/torque converter and no core charge. Shipping is about $150.00. These are brand new trannsmissions not rebuilt ones. Hope this helps a little.
