Well guys it's finally happened. One of my friends has owned an 08 long enough to be out of warrenty, and he want's me to work on it. LOL For those that know me, the 7.3 is my specialty. I've never layed hands on a 6.4. Anyway, I've been trying to do a little research on the EGR delete stuff. From what I can tell........
There are block off plates which are cheap and easy, but you run the risk of lifting the heads from over boost. Does that sound right? Then there are full delete kits that are expesive as hell. I saw the one delete kit from Elite I believe with the waste gate. I'm guessing that's the end all kit? I'm confused on what really needs to happen for no more trouble with the EGR. Also, what tuner and model is needed to run it correctly?
Next, the DPF delete. Never done one, how hard is it, and what is needed to do it without codes and poor running?
Guys, I really appreciate any insite you can give me. I was heavy on the search button last night, and succeeded in confusing myself. LOL I'm looking forward to your opinions on this.
dpf delete, drop the exhaust from the downpipe back.. cat, dpf and muffler.
remove the cat & dpf sections, put straight pipe on..
move the sensors to the new pipe.. make sure u have access to the one in the DPF, usually hard to impossible to get out.
rehang the new pipe.
follow the tuner instructions for first startup. you MUST have a tuner to turn off the DPF regen cycle.
I want to block off the coolers so as to not worry about them rotting out and hydrolocking the engine. The relieving of the boost through the EGR has me concerned once it is blocked off.

I have been running EGR blocker plates for about 2 years now with no issues. I run the RCD 450 tune all the time(towing and dd) and I have also monitored the exhaust drive pressure with the plates and the 450 tune and it is ok. I think the issues are with the bigger tunes and no wastegate= high exhaust drive pressures and could lead to head gasket issues.
