Well today while getting in the truck she noticed a paint flaw under the front passenger window trim. I went to look and its a pretty good paint run. The bad thing is its not smooth. It it pretty rough in texture. I am not to happy to say the least. Is this a warranty issue or am I hosed cause I didn't catch it when I picked up the truck??
I complained to Ford directly about the orange peel when I bought my 2007 and they offered to repaint my whole truck. It was from tail to tip. I drove it to the paint shop and he said he would do it no problem, but he said he could not get it as hot or baked that comes from the factory and later on I might have problems. I chose not to mess with it.
Hope that helps a little.
BTW, Ford found me in their data base and knew my background with all my Ford Purchases. Don't know if that had a influence or not.

I've had issues with Ford covering paint issues in the past. I had to pay to have the lip on the hood of my Expedition refinished because of a known iron contamination issue from the factory. Ford said even though it is "corrosion" and it was causing the paint to start flaking off on a 3 1/2 year old truck it wasn't "rust" so they left me hanging. Well doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that aluminum doesn't rust. But it sure as he!! can corrode.
I have a buddy that has been doing body work for about 15 years, he says that fords are the "dirtiest" from the factory, I agree , there is even a few slight imperfections in my platinum white!
The paint on these "$60,000" trucks is seriously lacking. Just look at the lower rocker panels under the doors on any colored truck. Even a blind robot should be able to do a better job. I'm planning on filing a complaint about several paint issues. I seriously doubt that it will go anywhere, but I will try.
It's hard to believe that the paint process got worse in the last 4 years instead of better!
When mine arrived it had bad scratches and a dent in the hood from the transporter. Ford repaired and painted with a lifetime guarantee on the paint, through in the Polysteel, undercoat, and scotchgaurd. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't find out that your door was damaged in transport and repaired and painted by the dealership before you saw it. I've found that paint runs are not found very often from the factory.
Same here, a scrape on the right front fender trim and a dent in the left side passenger door. The dealer felt really, really badly about it. They took care of it immediately, with a lifetime guarantee on all the work.
Ok here's the deal. I took it to the dealer and had the body shop look at it. They seemed to think it looked like it was a paintless dent repair. So they had the dent guy come out and he agreed. He also said he didn't do it if that's what it is.
I am pretty sure I would have caught it when I accepted the truck. What I personally think happened is I took the truck back and dropped it off to get undercoating and paint treatment. The dealer uses a local place to do this off site. I think something happened there and I didn't catch it when I picked it up. I honestly didn't scour the vehicle that time. Didn't think I had to. Guess I was wrong.
Anyway, since its appears to be repair work warranty doesn't cover it. The body shop is working it out with the sales department on who is going to pay for this. I am confident that they will take care of me. Fingers crossed.
My truck has drips of clear on the bottom of the bed and the two right side doors. You can't see it unless you go to slide under the truck. Very minor in my opinion because you can't see it and the rest of the paint is great.
