The 1973 F-350 I bought to restore has very good front and rear bumpers. They are very straight and don't seem to have any scratches and bends. But the chrome is failing. I have read of the bad press on the replacement bumpers we can buy. The price to have them re-chromed seems to be about $300 for the front and I would assume it is a little more for the rear step bumper. The good front bumper at LMC seems to be $179 plus shipping. And rear at $250.
Is it worth it to stay with the Original bumper and the chrome may be better quality.

My say is go ahead with buying a set of brand new bumpers. It'd be much more worth your time and effort, as well as have a guaranteed good-look when you're done. LCM has no problem taking things back that aren't satisfactory.
Think of it this way: Pay just as much for something that's old and potentially has the chance to look great, or pay the same amount and get a guaranteed good look that's brand-spankin' new.
For me, that's an easy choice, take the brand new one.
