Throttle Kick-down Rod

Hi all, I just bought a 78 F240 4x4 Camper Special. One of the first bthings I'd like to do is change to a 4 BBL carb. I am looking at the Edelbrock Performer 400. I see that I will need a Throttle linkage adapter, & a Throttle plate kit. What I am wondering is if the kickdown linkage will work as is, or if I will need to modify / extend it. I see that there is an extension available from Edelbrock, but there is no mention if it is actially required.

To clarify, the truck has a 400, & auto transmission.

I will post pictures & more info in another thread as soon as I get the truck home.

Thanks
Stacey

The throttle linkage on a 4 bbl sits a little further forward on the engine than with a 2 bbl; the adapters are just to extend the length of the kickdown so it isn't a couple inches too short to reach. I can't say from experience, though, whether it's strictly necessary on that engine application, or if the geometry is such that it can be made to work without it.

Yep, the kick down has to be extended to reach.
