165,000 miles, V10, 4X4, Limited, looks to be in good shape. $5995. Looking for a winter driver to keep my G8 GXP off the road.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> I have a few questions:<o></o> <o></o> 1. How long should I expect it to last? Any major engine or tranny problems reported around this mileage?<o></o> 2. I'd imagine it is a beast in the snow. True?<o></o> 3. 13-15MPG in the city?<o></o> 4. General thoughts/comments?<o></o> <o></o> Thanks!<o></o>
If it was well maintained, it should last over 300k miles. How well do you know the previous owner(s)? Yes, it's a beast in the snow. On ice, that's a different story. You're looking at around 10 MPG in the city depending on what gear ratio you have.
V10s are great motors. Very reliable. The 00-02 has the plug spitting issue if plugs aren't torqued correctly. Exhaust manifold studs tend to break off in all model years. Again, proper maintenance is key.
That's not a bad price. If you do plan on getting it, I would do a complete tune up, new shocks, tires if needed, all fluids replaced. Plan on spending another $1k-$2K. You can save some $$$ if you know how to do some of the things yourself.
more like 8-10 in the city mpg wise...best i've seen on all highway is almost 13mpg.
they are great trucks and will last well past 200k, just make sure to look it over well. check the frontend balljoints..ect also exhaust manifold studs like to rot off if they use salt around you.
Ditto on snow but be very picky about tires and rotate them religiously. The mpg figures you are being given are dead on. In regards to city driving, you may find there are parking garages the Ex is to high for.
Good price...Retail value for my 2000 4x4 Limited 125k in August was $8500. Mine was not maintained real well, but I have a good mechanic (see my other thread about "Getting some work done").
