Well i finally got my muffler off i was doin a bunch of hammering and i guess it wasnt even necessary you just had to grab and pull. At first i didnt think much different but when you get on it it sounds alot better IMO. So my question is when i get on some and then let off it makes this screech sorta noise and then you can hear the turbo slowing down. Is that noise bad or what? I checked my turbo shaft for play the other day an it didnt have any at all i felt.
Also i know on some gassers you need a muffler for them to have the correct back pressure an what not. Is it bad for a diesel to run straight pipe or should i put the muffler back on soon?

It doesn't hurt a thing to have a straight pipe... and it sounds waaayy better
I don't know about the screech sound, maybe the EBPV closing when it shouldn't?
I agree with Ian in that it doesn't hurt to run w/o the muffler...but I happen to think it sounds better with one installed. I guess it is just personal preference.
I have two trucks, one with and the other without. I don't hear any weird noises on the non-muffler truck when i back off the throttle so you may want to isolate that noise and fix the issue.
BTW, The truck with the muffler seems like it has more power but it's hard to judge.
