Can anyone recommend a good help forum for Honda's. I have an Accord, and apparently there are different front brake caliper brackets, depending on something I don't know.
I need to ask someone knowledgeable some questions.
I have a 90 Civic that we love. 38 mpg @70 mph. I belong to HondaCivicForum.com. There are some pretty sharp guys on that forum. I'm sure someone can help with an Accord.
Honda is the only import I would ever really consider owning. The one we have came to us from my Mom. She quit driving at 88 years old & gave her car to my wife. She & I bought it new in 1990. It has been a great car. Only 100,000 miles & fully loaded four door. My wife loves driving it as do I.

We also had a 90 civic that was given to my daughter. I thought the car did fairly well in that it sat for four years unused. After spending over $2k on it in 3 years, I decided to let it go. Had it not sat, I think it would have been better.
I'm sure that Honda makes nice cars. I was driving a '91 Toyota Camry and it was somewhat of a pain to work on, but nothing like this car. I've come to the conclusion over the last 5 months of fixing this thing up that it is, indeed, truly, the spawn of Satan himself.
I just got done a week or so ago putting a new water pump in it. The engine is designed specifically so that only people with very small hands can reach the nuts and bolts. That thing got more of my skin than my ex-wife did. And, of course, a horizontal engine has the water pump driven by the timing belt, which is behind the balance shaft belt, the timing cover, the front drive pulley (I had to buy $85 in tools to get that SOB off), the driver side engine mount, the alternator, power steering pump, a/c pump and cruise control module. I even had to take off the valve cover.
So I got the water pump in. I also had a set of front brake pads that needed to go in. Easy, right? Nooooo. The passenger side slide pin is frozen in place, grinding the existing pad down to nothing. I tried turning it, prying on it, beating on it and heating it until glowed brighter than the sun. Nothing but a roasted caliper bracket.
You think you can buy a caliper bracket for a 1991 Honda Accord LX Wagon? Nooooo. You can get the one for every other configuration for $50 from Auto Parts Warehouse. But not the Wagon. It's special and uses a different caliper. I can get the entire caliper/bracket combination from BrakeWarehouse.com, for $50, with a $50 core charge, and $25 shipping.
Napa says they can get one and it says it's for the Wagon. It's the caliper/bracket combination also. And they say it's for the wagon. So I ordered it for $65. We'll see.
Just wait til the electrical demon comes for a visit. You have to remove the left driveshaft to replace the altenator. Be careful with the distributor shaft as it likes cracking the ears off when replacing the rotor button. Toyotas were bad for this also.
It moved under it's own power for the first time in 3 months just about 1/2 hour ago. The part from NAPA in town was the right one.
I had the alternator off, in order to get to the water pump. I didn't have to take any axles out, thank God. So you must be thinking of a different model or year.
I had bubbles still coming out of the brake bleeder even after pumping it for about 5 minutes. I was having the same problem on the driver side rear. I dunno what's up with that.
I'll probably find a helper and work on bleeding it again. Then I need to get it cleaned up, clean the 2 or 3 quarts of brake fluid off my tools and put them away. Then start test driving it on short trips until I can build up some confidence in it again.
Last time I drove it to town, I sat in the 90 degree desert sun for 2 hours waiting for the tow truck. Winter is coming on us, so I doubt I'll be driving it that far any time soon. I don't like freezing to death.
