Ok so I am new here, just became a member because I was lucky enough to come across a 77 f250. Im putting an interior in it, and found this on Jeffs bronco graveyard. ABS Black Headliner With Speakers
Ive been kinda spoiled with my sound systems in my trucks, but im really clueless as to what will "sound good". I know 4" speakers are about as small as they come, will it sound good? Will I have to amp them? What can I do to make a nice sounding stereo in my truck?
LMC also sells that headliner they say it takes the echo out of the cab apposed to having stock locations.
If those are the speakers that came with it they don't need to be amped, they are only rated for 10 watts so they will run off a stock deck which I believe is around 7 watt but dont quote me on that. I would suggest upgrading them to a higher quality set, if you are planning to put an aftermarket system in then buy appropriate components. just remember that you are running this in a lot tighter space than you would be in a car, so you won't need as much power "wattage" and those speakers are right in your ears. good luck and have fun...
Oh and BTW welcome to FTE!!!! there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site that will be able to help you with anymore questions you may have. Again welcome!! ttyl
I'm a stereo shop owner - those sound like crap. period.
you don't want speakers above your head. and you want them as far away from your head as possible so the speakers are as near equidistant as possible.
plastic is NOT an acceptable baffle for speakers - any body who sells plastic kick panels, consoles, overhead anything doesn't have a clue about the basics of sound quality.
if you don't care what they sound like, that's no problem, but I still think that headliner looks kind of goofy.

A little sound dampener in the doors and a good set of 6.5 separates behind the door panels with the tweeters up about shoulder level should be fine. Even in my BMW I don't run rear speakers because it kills the staging of the music. Maybe a small sub with a reasonable amp behind the seat if you have room and you should be pretty happy with the results. You could probably do most of this for less than what the headliner would cost. It is all a matter of opinion and preference though.
