94 F150 worth

Older gentleman (75-80 sharp as a tack) has for sale a 94F150 4x4 302 runs good new brake lines. Rusty. 4wheel drive works. All I know about mileage is it is high. Mostly highway miles. Looked at the truck but have not talked to him yet. Just asking people around town (small town) that I know know about the truck mechanicaly they all say it runs good but has't been driven in a while. He wants 1800 for it. I thought it might be a little high just wondring what you guys thought. Just trying to get a little input before I go wheel and deal. Yes I know the gentleman we have had are differences ( long story) but we do tolerate each other.

If the rust isn't too bad and it runs/drives/shifts alright it's worth it.....

Thanks.I've seen much worst I've seen much better. I've talked to alot of people and its 50/50 weather it is or isn't. I think I gonna try for around 1500. People in town say as far as they know when he drove it it was a sound truck. I live in N. Michigan and the guy always drove it when he went down state.

Sounds good to me at between 1500 and 1800 if the tires are good. You should expect about 13-14 miles per gallon, so that's a little high but you've got 4X4 and Ford 302,

If you have any trouble starting it or running it, I would look at the distributor and the fuel pump as being suspect. Personal experience with a 1990 Bronco.

take it for a drive. Loose steering and your probably looking at a steering box. Check the spring hangers and the front coil spring towers for rot through. None of these issues are unrepairable of course. Just good negotiating points. The big issue of course, beside mechanics, is the frame. If it's rotted through then walk away. Of course you want to make sure it runs and shifts well. 1500 seems low unless the body is really bad. 2000 to 2500 seems to be the going rate where I'm at. The only regret I have about my 94 F150 XLT EC LB is I wish it was a 250. Good Luck.

Expect to be putting some $ into it later down the road.. With my 94 I paid $1000, all hwy miles, but some of the maintanance was slacked on, I picked it up with about 136,000 miles, I am in the process of putting a new motor in it at 149,000 miles because of bad injector and a melted piston

Well a good friend of mine just got back from Georgia boy am I glad he did. He is in my opinion the best ford man in the area. To make a long story short we went and looked at the truck. The truck has issues. After crawling around under the truck he said " DO NOT BUY THIS TRUCK". Oh well not in that big of a hurry.
