hi all oil question

got a 71 w/ 390 in it.

currently useing supertech oil from wally world 10/30 conventional.

would i see any benefit from switching over to synthetic have about 5 qt of royal purple left over from van.

i know our engines were around be for sythentics so using them is a grey area but would i see any benefit from it or should i just sell them quarts to some one else?

This it totally different, but it makes me think about your question.
I have been using Echo power equipment for some time now, and one thing "they" recommended, was to always use either Echo or Stihl two cycle oil.
I purchased one gallon of Echo two cycle that lasted a couple of years.
Once that ran out, I started using those tiny little bottles, because it is all that I could get locally. My string trimmer's engine seized, but it would free up if I squirted a little oil in the cylinder.
I believe the problem is I unknowingly switched to synthetic, then back to regular two cycle, and it damaged the engine.

Other than giving you a warm & fuzzy feeling I doubt you would see any benefit.

The synthetic or conventional oil thing cracks me up. In no way did the motor sieze because of synthetic.

It would give you an once more power and fuel economy. Not enough to notice but a tinny bit. If you were constantly running it hard Its worth it. I put royal purple in my engine, trany, and rear in my Nissan titan and got a hole 1mpg and it deffinatly shifted better with 9,000lbs behind it.

Synthetic oil lubricates better and lasts longer. It doesn't swell seals like conventional oil does and deffinatly reduces parasidic loss due to friction.

If you had a nice clean engine that doesn't leak or have blowby then I would say deffinatly use the royal purple or any other synthetic pecause you can just replace the filter at 5000 miles ant then the oil at 10,000 miles. But if your oil turns to gunk in 2000 miles, just like mine does, keep using the cheep stuff.

Try running a set of WIDE WHITES on your truck. It may not improve the engine, but it sure will look better!!! (the ones made by Armorall look really good)

oh you're way wrong there - the smoothness of the WIDE WHITES will definitely increase your quarter mile performance - especially if you put the Armorall brand on - nuthin but slick!! And you need all the help you can get with a vehicle that has the aerodynamics of a brick!

pfffftttttt.....

i though every one new shinny and waxed gives our trucks the aerodimanic crossection of a ferrari.

on race day i always wax it and for the "unofficial races" *like on the way to work i am thinking camoflauge so that the cops can't see me. "no cop no stop"

course whit the camo i am gonna lose some speed cuz i don't want the white walls to give me away. gotta stay black wall.

NO, NO, NO - for commuting - go RED, BRIGHT, BRIGHT RED - then you'll blend in with all the weenies in their red Miatas (also - the whitewalls will work fine with red) - a cop won't even notice an inflated miata with 33's on it
