Man! I have been saving and saving and stinkin' SAVING! Trying to get money together for wheels and tires for my Ex. This has been months in the making and I am very proud to say that I put myself in NO DEBT to do this!
I went with the BMF Novakane 22x10.5 in Death Metal Black and a set of Toyo Open Country A/T tires in 325-50-22. To answer some questions:
1. They stick out of the side of the truck about 1-1/2" nd I think it looks tough as nails.
2. The ride height of the truck is now 42" to center of front wheelwell and 43" to center of rear wheelwell.
3. Ride is quiet...no louder than stock as far as I can tell(I do have exhaust)
4. No wandering either!
5. No rain yet so I can't comment on rain traction.
6. No rubbing on the leaf springs, but I had to have some of the lower valace trimmed(1/2" vertically) and you'd never notice. The plastic wheel well liner had to be massaged a bit by a local body shop to eliminate rub on driveways and steeper inclines. (I don't mind...everything takes adjusting these days and this was petty painless.
7. I am surprised at how the turning radius has not suffered much at all...not enough to bother my wife either. I can still pull a U-ey at intersections without a stop.
8. I put the Orange tire pressure monitoring system in and it works great! The alarm is a bit annoying as it goes off at 60 psi(max for alarm). It is easily reset, but it will read all the way up to 85 psi(so says the manual). Hopefull I can somehow program it to not beep every hour on the hour, ha!
9. Lots of looks and thumbs up from truck friends!
10. I think I really need the Harley F250 Headlights to complete the "Blacked Out" look, what do you guys think?
11. I have not seen any other Excursions with this wheel setup so I am keeping my finger crossed for uniqueness in my area at least! Ha!
NOW FOR THE PICS! WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???

Reason: more thoughts...
Looks freakin awesome!!! I am just about to upgrade from stock also. But I have had more than one shop tell me 18" wheels is as big as i can go. Did you need to lift yours at all? I have a 2000 4X4 XLT.
Hey Caniac, I did lift the trick a bit with the V code springs and a mini spring perch spacer. It lifted the front about 2" from the saggy front end I had. On the back I did the modified B code springs that you can read about on these boards.
I have seen up to 33" wheels/tires without any lift but ymmv. Have fun!
Brakes are fine but I will be doing an upgrade in the future. These wheels don't weigh much more if at all more than anyone else with 35" tires and most guys here have done very little in the way of brakes. I have been thinking about doing some AP Racing brakes.
