Question t case question

i am going to start off stating the i don't know very much about the mechanics of t-cases. but when i have it in 4 wheel or have the hubs locked in and i hit the breaks i hear somehtin shift under the truck and when i go to take off again it feels like i am climbing over a hill or somethin. then i hear a popping sound and the rear end dropps down and it is fine until i hit the breaks again. i would appreciate any suggestions

t case question

So, if I understand your post, it acts up whenever the hubs are engaged, and with the t-case in 2H or 4H, correct? What vehicle do you have? What do you mean by "the rear end drops down?" Do you have rear disc or drum brakes?

t case question

i have a 91 f250 with rear drum breaks. yes it only acts up when the hubs are locked in and is in 2 or 4. it makes this weird popping noise and i can feel the rear of the truck drop down and it shakes the truck. like i said before i dont know much about transfer cases so i have no clue where and what to look for so any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

t case question

MMmmm, It sounds as if the rear tires are trying to turn faster than the fronts. That would cause the rear to jack up and then drop. I would get the truck up on a lift so all the tires would rotate and verify that both axles rotate at pretty much the same speed. Are front and rear tires the same diameter?

For simplicity you could put a chalk mark on each tire at the 12 o-clock position. Put the truck in low range and let it idle with vehicle on jack stands. (Have somebody inside to hit the brakes just in case).

You could then watch the chalk marks either stay insink or get outa-wack as the tires rotated at different speeds...

t case question

my tires are the same diameter, and i dont think that that is the poblem. it seems like there is some kind of binding taking place some where and then it pops and releases the pressure. after further review, my guess is that it is somethin with the front drive shaft or axle.

t case question

Check the front and rear gear ratios like Shotgun mentioned. Sounds like you might have different gear from front to back.

Does it do this turning or going striaght? If it only happens when you are locked in and turning you have some sort of clutched locker up front.
