Good Backup Camera

This would be for a 2008 F-250 Crew Cab. I will be towing a 12ft enclosed trailer. I would like something decent but don't want to break the bank. I will be towing 2-3 times a week. Any body know or tried anything that works decent that is inexpensive? Pictures would be a plus too. Thanks!

Don't know what your definition of breaking the bank is but this is where I would start. The 56CHNV is what I've been looking at.

Here's another, cheaper option...

I used the Wireless setup from Pace.. 7 in monitor, and a license plate camera.. $50 when I bought it last spring..

I have since replaced it with a stock camera tailgate handle, a camera from Ebay, and a Nav unit with backup camera support..

I miss the view the license plate cam presented.

Autozone sells the 3.5 inch monitor version..

I powered the unit from the left rear tail light housing backup light wire.

here is one on Ebay

The one you have the Ebay link to is the one that I bought. I just bought it a few weeks ago, so I have not had time to hook it up yet. I'm going to use a toggle switch for the monitor, and the camera, so I can have them on any time I want, and not just when the truck is in reverse. Peak makes a good system. The one at Autozone is the same camera, just a smaller monitor.

the camera itself gets power thru the transmitter, and is 5V at the camera.

I also ran a wire from an upfitter switch to power the unit as well as the backup wire.. I put a diode between the upfitter sourced wire and the backup lights so I didn't turn on the backup lights everytime I flick the switch.

backup light ===> diode> ==\
upfitter_wire ==========--\----control unit

I plugged the monitor in my console and pulled it out when I needed it.

this all got to be a pain with ipod, gps, phones and the monitor,
so I installed a nav unit and ran the camera wire all the way to the head unit.
in between there I put in the tailgate camera, and had it feed the wireless control unit instead.

Wow, that is a beauty. I wonder how hard it would be to put one in an 01. I think I will go to Ebay and see what they are going for. It would be sweet to have the back up camera and everything all wrapped up into one monitor.

for me its the big monitor.. the image in the rear view mirror is SO tiny I can hardly see anything.. I tow a car trailer (see my avatar) and am always connecting.. so having the ball visible makes this a piece of cake.
thats why I got the 7in peak.. and it was great, except I didn't use it when it could help (grocery store, mall, etc) cause it was a pita to get out all the time.

thanks eveyone. I looking for something that doesnt take up a lot of room and is something that I can mount easy without drilling or tampering with anything. This is for a work truck. As far as gadgets inside it will have my gps, laptop stand, printer, satelite radio receiver (seperate from the radio). So I would rather not have another gadget taking up space as I have enough already.

First I replaced the stock head unit for a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD ($420).
Installed a relay to make the head unit think the parking brake is always on. (For some strange reason)
Then I bought and installed an Audiovox ACA200W rear view camera over my license plate ($65).
Now I have a 7" rear view display.

this allows the unit to be used for Nav by your passenger without having to be stopped with the parking brake applied.

on the 910 it was one wire move in the harness and connect it to ground. yours might have needed power applied

So do any of these cameras give you a decent view of the hitch? Hitching a trailer and making sure I don't back into something it my biggest issue for me. If it is more than a couple feet from the bumper I don't really care about it. I would think the ones on the license plates just look back and not down to the hitch area.
