Cloumn Shifter Play

I've noticed there's a lot of "play" in my shifter. It still goes into
all of the gears and the transmission works properly. I checked the
likage on the side of the trans and that's all tight. I'm guessing it
has something to do with the steering column? Only trans shifters
I've ever worked on was an old Chevy 4 speed. Anyone suggest what
might be wrong and how to fix it? Thank you!
Oh, It's on a 1995 Ford E150 Club Wagon E4OD 351W

Sounds like loose screws, just tighten them.

Loose Screws

Thank you for the reply and the picture is great. Are those screws
at the top of the column under the plastic shroud? Excuse my
ignorance since this aspect of working on a vehicle is new to me.
I've changed diesel glow plugs, rebuilt engines but, never worked
on a steering column so I'm guessing here. Thank you in advance!

No to both questions.
They are down near the floor board under the dash.
You do not have to remove anything.
