After having the Ex for 2 months, I am finally having my mechanic take a look and do some things for me. I know a lot of you all are DIY's and that's great, but I have a great and honest guy I trust. He owns the shop and does 90% of the work himself.
Anyway, It started with the a syn oil change and the drivers door actuator swap. The dealer provided this part as it was defective at delivery. I also asked for a complete inspection as this guy will give me an honest report. As it turns out, my EX (2000 w/127k) had never had the tranny fluid, transfer case, or differential fluid changed. The rear main seal was also leaking. I'm having everything done mentioned above for around $450 including all parts and labor.
Brakes were low, but ok for now and I'll need tires for Spring.
I'm surprised someone would spend 40k+ on a vehicle and not do basic maintenance.
My 2000 never had the fluid changed either but it only had 94k on it. The fluid was toast and it was making the torque converter buzz during lockup. The 2000 model X has a smaller trans cooler and no in-radiator cooler so the transmission is more prone to overheating. Some were upgraded under warrantee and some were not. Mine was not so I put in a 6.0L trans cooler. If yours has been upgraded it will have a cooler in the radiator as well as one external in front of the radiator. If you don't have the upgrade then I would at least get a transmission temp gauge. Most poeple NEVER change trans or diff fluid or even know they are there for that matter. Transmission shops like to spread myths like changing the fluid will kill the transmission. Of course they are going to tell you that because they will get more business that way. Make sure your guy does a full flush on the trans.
Make sure your guy does a full flush on the trans.

Thanks...I had forgetten about the smaller cooler on the 00's. He is doing a full flush because he mentioned 14 qts. I had read some places do it with 7, but that's just a drain and fill and not emptying the TC.
