I have a 97 Ranger regular cab with the split bench seat. It doesn't look like there is much room for a sub behind the seat. What's the secret? I tried fitting my small 8" truck box back there and no way it would work unless the seat was all the way up. I could make a custom box for an 8" sub but it'd be tight. Anyone try a set of healthy 6x9's in the stock 6x8 locations? MTX makes a Thunder Form box but at $299 I think I'll pass. Thanks!
I had some 10" subs in a truck box that BARELY fit in my S-10
the ranger seems more like impossible
if you have the 60/40 seat i'm sure you could replace them with 2 buck seats from an explorer, and then buy a box to fit in the center. Not suer how well it would work..
i seen another S-10 with a set up like this, it worked well, but it annoyed me the bass was going right into your side..
i have a 00 reg cab and i took the factory speakers out and am running 2 kenwood 6x9's in little sealed boxes behind both seats , it doesnt sound much better but there is a little bit more bass.
BAZOOKA TUBES WILL WORK IN A REGULAR CAB. i HAVE AN 8 INCH RIGHT NOW AND IT THUMPS.
I AM SURE 2 8INCH TUBES WOULD FIT BUT I AM ABOUT TO MAKE A CUSTOME 10 INCH BOX WITH MOST THE AIR SPACE COMMING FROM THE AREA BETWEEN THE TWO SEATS
ya, he's right, i have a bazooka tube (8") that i have behind the passenger seat. Granted, i do have that seat up pretty far, but The Woman (lol) doesnt seem to mind too much, course she also doesnt know why the seat is up so far, i just tell her its broken if you want some pics, let me know, also let me know if you want some advice for wiring and choosing what to go with, and ill help get ya hooked up.
Yes i have a 95 ranger standard cab and i have a 10" solobaric in truck box behind passenger seat. I had to take the jack and tire iron out and knock the bolt down that is sticking up. THe key is to wedge the top of the box under the groove that runs sideways on back of the cab. Mine slides right underneight it. ANd i have A grill on the front of my speaker so i slipe the seat all the way back and there is room for another person to sit, not too cramped up but a little. The hard part for me was the amp behind the armrest in the middle. if i pushed my seat back too far it would push on the fan and it wasnt too good. but anyways its fixed now.
Look into MTX. They make a box (thunder Form) thal holds a 10" that fits behind the seat and will allow the seat to still have full travel. these boxes are for thr standard cab only. they have three versions one without a woofer, one with a woffer and one with a woofer and built in amp.
I have a 2002 reg cab and I was wondering if there was wny other boxes besides thunderforms out for it. I have a 10" jl ws6 I want to put in it but I cant find a box taht will fit. PLease help. I was thinking I could put a box right behind the armrest and leave the jack and stuff alone, but I was wondering if any of yall have done this. Thanks
Yeah im going to be running 2 amps. Im in the same boat as you. Just make a box like the MTX one. Its the best u can do. I know it sucks but im start trying my set up on Satuday...should be fun. Im trying for 2 10s...OH my ....it will be loud Check out my link...to my other post about the same thing....
This is the very reason why I chose an Extra Cab Ranger.
I have a 98 XLT Extra Cab, which comfortably lets a dual 12" sub box sit right behind me. I love driving down the street windows down, bass blastin'...
i've got a 12" kicker solobaric and two amps in the back of my 2001 reg cab. there arent to many boxes that will fit. i made mine and im gonna say it was a pain, but the 60/40 bench helped out.
As well I have 2 Kicker Solobaric Square 12's In My Standard cab 98 ranger.
Built the box myself, had to remove the interior from behind the seats and custom build the box to conform to the metal at the back.
Equip
2 - Kicker Solo Baric 12" Square Subs
- Sony XPlode 1000W Amp (Running At 1ohm)
- 1" Thick Plexiglass covering Amp With 4 Cooling Fans
- Laptop Computer Head Unit
- Power System For Laptop (125VAC Invertor + Noise Filter)
- JBL 125 W Amp For Mids
2 - Kicker 5 X 7 Door Speakers
I have the 60/40 buckets in my reg cab, and I was in the same boat. I ended up having a well-reputed shop fabricate a box that fits 4 8" subs and two amps, required cutting the trim panels in the back of the cab, but still lets the seat go all the way back. I'm sure I can get a couple of pics to you if it sounds like a good deal. I'm definately happy with it.
I've got a '98 extended cab with the 60/40 bench seat. I took out the jump seats in the back and installed 10" subs in their place. I just cut a piece of plywood in a shape to cover the area where the seat was, covered it with carpet, installed a breather hole, and it works wonderfully. With regular 6x9's in the stock 5x7 holes, sealed very carefully, this sounds great. The only trick is sealing off the 6x9 so that when the sub hits, the air displacement doesn't cause distortion in the 6x9. Great stuff and pink panther insulation come in very handy for sealing off the 6x9. Of course this won't help with the regular cab issue, but its nice for those who have the extended cab. You still have the cab space available, just no jump seats. By the way, there IS another company who makes sub boxes that are "vehical specific". Q-Logic, Magnum, and Clarion make speaker boxes for Rangers, as well as MTX. Good Luck!
I got a 95 ranger std. cab and I was looking at the speakers the other night at Best Buy and they had a box from Q-logic that would fit behind the seat.
