2 piece FE flexplate????

Taking apart an old FE, found 2 piece flexplate, outer 3"-4" ring gear bolted to inner ring that's bolted to crank. Certainly different than my other flexplate. Can't find a part number.

That is unique. Can you post some pics of it? As I for one have never heard of such a flexplate on a FE or any other engine. The only 2 piece flexplates I have seen were broken ones.

This came off a 66 428 that's never been apart until yesterday.

I have never seen anything like that on a Ford or anything else for that matter. That had to have been on an experimental something car that got away from the company. They would often have a lot of experimental variations of produts they were testing on managers and field reps cars out in the field. They always were brought back to the factory and either crushed or the experimental parts removed and replaced with production parts, the cars were then sold as "Brass Hat" specials to the new car dealers who then sold them as corporate demos.
That is avery unique wall hanger in the garage or in your "Man Cave".
Was the trans a C6 or a Ford-O-Matic? That might have been a transition flexplate or?
For sure I don't have a clue, but it sure is strange. Also Ford never released anything like a flexplate with a weld repair on it, so if it was never apart it had to be experimental.

I believe the trans to be a C6. Was also told that the motor was originally in a S-55 Marauder, pulled back in the early 80's and stored in the barn (where I picked it up). Sure threw me off when I seperated the trans from the motor, had no idea what I was looking at. Thanks for the interest and response.

PS what also looked like a weld in the photo was actually a hardened expoxy like material which chipped right off.

Flywheel

I saw something like this years ago when I worked for a Ford dealer. I was told the center section was neutral balenced and the outer ring was balenced to either the 390 series , 428 or could be used in a FT situation. According to the parts guy the outer rings were weighted per the application. I have yet to find this flexplate in any parts books . Is there any numbers on either part? This flexplate could have been used in industrial applications or??
