well see james a dizzy is driven by the camshaft over a period of time the bottom gear of a dizzy will wear down and it wont turn right and bog and misfire, and this is often confused with a bad pip so they replace the entire distributor and its fixed but it wasnt the pip it was the bottom gear of the dizzy
hmm... i think they are trying to trick you into parts. Gotta be careful and that's why you have us. Air pump I doubt needs to be replaced. What do you think subford? I'm okay with the EGR being replaced. Did you go to a mechanic johnstonwg23? I know your getting tired of us saying this but... Check for codes!!! lol
The Air Pump would only need to be replaced if it is locked up and would not turn.
The EGR valve would not have to be replaced unless it has a bad diaphgram.
True it may be stuck open and keeping the truck from idling but it would just have to be cleaned and freed up. The sensor on top may or may not bet bad but you would not know this until the EGR valve is cleaned and freed up.
You could also drop a penny in the EGR tube where it screws onto the EGR valve but do not over tighten it. If the EGR is open the engine would run OK with the penny in it.
I have drove a lot of miles with a penny in mine.
