IDI power
its a 90 7.3 idi only mod is the soup bowl delete and a drop in K&N filter its got the E40D and 3.55 gears
its a open rear and wont power brake at all

now my other truck OLD BLUE is a 88 f150 with a straight six, borg warner t18 4 speed and a 3.08 rear, the other day i put a hitch under it and hooked it to the same monte carlo and it didnt hold it back not one bit, that old 4.9 laughed at that load and pulled it with no problems
does the 4.9 out work the 7.3 idi or is there something wrong with my f250

any help is much appreciated
7.3L makes 180HP/375ft. Torque
What's the mileage on your 7.3?
Lack of Power could be tired Injectors / Injector Pump
Maybe do in for a good tune up!
My '92 7.3 with the 4.10 rear gear will pull a 6k car trailer no problem. I can't even feel it on the hwy (unless i'm on a hill lol ).
I can drop mine into 1st and just be light on the brakes and mash the throttle and it'll flash the converter and both tires would instantly ignite.

like your 300-6.when it was low on power what was the first thing you did to it? likely a new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, air filter.aka-a tune up.
the diesel requires tune ups too.it saves $ at the pump, but come maintenance time,it costs more to tune up than a gas engine, like the 300-6.
with a lot of the idi trucks now being worn out, older, rusty etc.this means people with less $ buy them of course.
problem is,if the $ is not set aside, and the tune up planned for with the purchase of the diesel, people will find them low on power, and just barely getting decent fuel mileage.
basically, one needs to plan for a total tune up,including the timing set for a total tune up.
if the engine has higher miles,a compression test should be done to make sure its within specs.it will never have the performance otherwise(unless built that way to accept more boost, using a turbo.)
there's a few things to help the performance of the idi.but nothing compares to starting with a well tuned engine to start with.
iv had a couple 300's.my last f150 had it too.
my idi walks all over it.
if your looking for a fast tire burning truck, you made a mistake.
these are heavy duty work trucks, made to haul and pull, not be "snappy" and win races with (although i say this,my heavy idi work truck would still smoke my light f150 right off the line in a head to head foolish, pointless race lol.)
hook onto something, then you'll know for sure you have a bit more than a 300 under the hood.
