compression tested

I've seen some faint black smoke coming out of both tail pipes (true dual) on from my 390 lately. I bought and did a compression test to it today, and it read just above 150psi for all cylinders. Is that good? And since they all read the same and aren't what you'd call low, i'm gonna assume i need to replace the valve stem seals then?

Black smoke is fuel related, compression is great. Tune your carb, drive on.

What kind of carb? Could well be a blown power valve which requires replacement. All it takes is one little back fire to blow one too. Compression is excellent.

right now it's a edel 750 performer. It was taken apart about 2 weeks ago now and cleaned out, and that made a huge difference because it had a decent amount of what looked like "dirt" in both bowls. I don't know anything else about it though other than it runs haha. Something weird happens though every now and then, when i open the throttle all the way, the engine idles up and wont go back down till i restart it...

The Edel doesn't have a power valve but the some of them have a tendency to have high float levels.

The floats looked good and didnt have any gas in them, and looked to be where they should be.
