Truck is running. It's dark out here. I looked under the hood and saw blue flashes between the round coil body and square insulator.
Wish I could see it, but it ain't right. Is there a dirty film on the coil? It sounds like the coil core itself is compromised if it's not originating at the connection itself. Anything you see, means it's diverting from plug fire. Don't touch it while firing, or you'll know exactly how much it's leaking, the hard way!
I also see some arcing at no1 and 2 plug boot as well. These are new wires and a new coil. maybe I'll route the wires differently. when the motor stumbles I can see it arc.

I'd tend to trust those (NAPA fan), but the proofs in the arching/ leakage. They either do or don't.
Fairly new?
Did you use a dielectric grease on the connectors?
What's the ohm resistance/ft, rating?
Certainly welcome. Not that I wouldn't anyway, but in 8 more posts, I hit 1K posts where I turn into a Leprechaun or glow on the dark or something cool like that. I forget, but something happens. So anyway, that guarantees at least 8 more questions answered.
heard and felt them click. they are the belden max blue wires. Box doesn't stat the resistance.
Take em back & get some Taylor Thunderbolt's 8.3's, Msd Superconductors 8.5's, or Ford racing 9's. Not uncommon mid grade & especially standard grade wires to be bad out of the box. A brass Cap & rotor set is also a good idea. The extra $ will even out in longevity.
I am going to get some new wires tomorrow. What hair I have left is precious so this had better help. I have never had this much trouble getting a rig to run right, and I have towed home some real POS.
So i have some new symptoms. I have to let it run for a few minutes everytime I start it or it will bog something fierce. Once it's warmed up the only time it really wants to bog is going up hill. I have to down shift when i see a hill coming to keep it in higher rpms otherwise it bogs real bad. I keep thinking fuel pressure at start up but that is not it. I have checked the fuel pressure when its running well and crappy but it is always the same right around 50 55,no fast bleed at shut down. The best it has run so far has been with the fpr discoed and the timing bumped to 14. what sort of problems would this mask. I can't find any vacuum leaks but i could swear there is one. I tested the tps. Top and bottom voltages checked out. took about 1/4 throttle to start moving real well. What does the tps exactly control? I can at least drive it to work so progress has been made.
