Tranny dipstick reads higher on one side?

78 f150 4x4 with a c-6 tranny, when i check my fluid level it will read in the normal side on one side. flip it over and it looks like i overfilled it like a ****. depending on how i put my dipstick back in, it will read high on either side of the dipstick. has anyone experience this before? what should i do, it also is slow to engage in drive when i first start to drive it in the morning or when its cold.

Slow to engage in the morning is usually a symptom of the torque converter is leaking down overnight. The pump has to fill the converter before you can move.
Don't understand the dipstick maybe someone else will post on this.
