My 91 F250 diesel with e4od trans shakes when I hit 1800 rpm. It only does it if you are cruising along and floor it. Its like it is lugging the engine down. Do you think it is the transmision or somting else?
Thanks in advance
Lars
Hard to say for sure, but the E4OD from the early 90s was notorious for Torque Converter Shudder, especially in diesel applications.
You might check the fluid for color(red to dark pink) and smell(nice chemically, not burnt) You might also drop thepan and check for chunks(Just a few rice size or smaller) Flakes(pepper size and color maybe half a teaspoon) The magnet should have a light coat of grey silvery fuzz. If ecerything looks normal do a fluid change. After a fluid and filter change, maybe you will get lucky and it will work OK.
But if not then you are in for a new upgraded TC at least and maybe a simple rebuild.
Or have a reputable shop look at it, but most likely they will say Torque Shudder and give you the spiel.
