leaking axle seal
just wondering how difficult to change front inner axle seals.I am doing ball joints,so thought i would tackle the small leak coming from axle tube on one side.I know i have to remove carrier/ring gear,but is it a job that needs special tools(case spreader)or can i pop beaing caps off,and pry out the "guts" ? i understand when you do get it apart,good idea to throw ring gear etc. in a cooler full of ice to keep metal "shrunk up"...just wondering if once i get into it,if i will need any special tools or instructions..i know i need tool for installation of axle seals,iam purchasing one on -line...just worried about removing carrier/ring gear,and if there is anything i need to be aware of?...any input appreciated.....thanks.....B.M.

Find the manual. I rebuild my rear without the spreader. The main nut took over 400 ft-lb but I did it with pipe and bathroom scale.
You can get the parts really frozen with any refrigerant or propane sprayed on them
