transmission help

hey yall i need some help i have 130000 miles on my f250 superduty and the tranismission decided to go out. i have found a trani to replace it with my truck is a 2000 f250 superduty 7.3 diesel 4x4 the one i found is a 2000 f250 6.8 diesel 2 wd. my question is can i switch it to mine and if i can what other stuff do i need

6.8 Diesel? There is no Navistar diesel used in a Ford that is/was 6.8L. The 6.8 is the V10 gas. Otherwise, yes an 4R100 from a 2000 model will be the same.

ok so it will as long as the 2wd is a diesel. so my transfer case will bolt on to the new trani and all will be good both are 4r100

A 2 wheel drive trans will NOT bolt to the transfer case. You would have to completely tear down the trans, replace the output shaft, and rebuild it.
