ive got a 1999 f-250 but recently ive ran into some engine problems i took it all apart and it looks like id be cheaper to put a new engine in there but im having troubles finding another 5.4l so i was wondering if anyone knows if a 5.0l would match up properly with my tranny and everything else
I would doubt it. The only 5.0 in the Modular (Triton) lineup is the 5.0 Coyote in the new Mustang, and if you are going for older, the 302 V8 from the 90s were mated to essentially the same transmission, but the wiring will be completely different requiring a new harness, ECM, etc. The older engine will yield less power and torque. I would keep searching for a 5.4. They shouldn't be that hard to find since virtually every Econoline van came with one.
The older motors will not work unless you plan to run a different fuel injection system.Check the engine rebuilers. They typically have short block pretty cheap. What is wrong wit your engine?
i would rebuild the motor witha stroker kit and a set of high compression pistons, that would give you more power and a fresh motor that you know everything about just my 2cents
i just found a 5.4l out of a 1999 e-250 so im gunna look at that but if that doesnt work im just gunna get some hgh compression pistons a new helin coil head gaskets and intake gaskets
