I have a extra 5.4L 2v motor for my 98 F150 4x4 . My 2004 F150 has a 5.4L 3v motor that is blown up. My question is What type of issues or problems would it be to change the blown up 3v 5.4L with my 2v 5.4L will this swap work?

 

Get the correct engine! If you try this swap you will be sorry. It probably could be done, but plan on engineering everything to work.

 

I'd be interested to see if it could be done. I was just thinking about swapping a 2v for a 3v and the newer 2005+ tranny.

Just wondering what it would take cost-wise and if it is feasible.

 

It will take a lot of electrical work plus some fancy fabrication.

 

I have been building transmission for 16 years and before that was a tech for dodge for 8 years. i opened my own tras shop 12 years or so ago. I do have quite a bit of experience turning wrenches. The motor is in a 98 F150 it was hit in the rear so i have a complete truck to make the swap somewhat easier. I really just dont have the money to replace the 3v motor. I will more than likely attempt the swap Im looking for information on what type of problems to expect. I do appreciate any and all help i can get on this Thanks
